PROBLEMS WITH PHOTOS PULLED FROM THE WEB
The Internet and Offset/Digital printing are two entirely different technologies. Photos pulled from the web are usually low-resolution 70 DPI photos, if they were larger the web page would take a long time to load. For printing we need high-resolution 300 DPI photos or the photos look pixelated and fuzzy when we go to print.
The better the quality of the original image, the better the quality of the finished product.
SCANS
Scan photos as close to the finished size as possible. Resolution should be 300-350 dpi. One-color bitmap images should be scanned at 1200 dpi.
*Note: When scanning from a PRINTED piece, the scan will show ink dots that result in a poor quality image. Try to use original art whenever possible.
